Armag’s modular EMP shielded facilities are custom engineered for critical defense applications that require MIL-STD-188-125 level protection and greater, including Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), missile defense, missile warning and strategic deterrence. They are tested and proven to protect against EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse), HEMP (High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) to ensure electronic equipment can survive and operate without interruption and provide continuity of critical services in an EMP event.

Armag’s EMP shielded facilities are engineered and constructed in accordance with MIL-HDBK-423 and can be designed to meet MIL-STD-188-125-1A for fixed facilities or MIL-STD-188-125-2 for transportable facilities. The shielding consistently achieves +20dB of attenuation, but if your application has special attenuation requirements, our engineering team can design shielding to any level of performance, including extended range performance.

Armag modular EMP shielded facilities are designed for robust physical, environmental, RF, and operational security and longevity. They are purpose-built using a tubular steel frame with a continuously welded ¼” steel RF-attenuating skin. Only proven, approved RF knife-edge and RF filters are employed and fully welded to the enclosure. Advanced corrosion protection is applied with the final exterior coat, meeting ISO 12944 C5M for marine environments.
With an expected lifespan exceeding 30 years, general maintenance, as well as HEMP Hardness Maintenance/ Hardness Surveillance (HM/HS) is minimal.
The EMP shielded facilities are rated for outdoor use and easily exceed typical requirements for rain, snow, sun, and hail loads. Floor loading is designed on a case-by-case basis to ensure sufficient support for the heaviest components, including generators. Wind loads to hurricane strength (250 MPH) are accommodated with increased structural strength. Armag’s modular EMP shielded facilities employ multiple layers of EMP mitigation and innovative engineering to provide maximum protection. They are constructed using ¼” steel with continuously welded perimeters which forms a faraday cage and creates electrical isolation. Only certified point of entry accessories are used (shielded doors, input/output ports, air vents and piping) and certified power line and signal line filters.

Armag HEMP Shielded facilities are designed to be transported to the site of operation and survive transport induced loads. Where required, Armag can custom engineer its facilities to achieve specific transport environments, including airlift on C-17 and C5.
