Innovative Bunker Provides Vital Support To Air Force Program
Armag’s Advanced EOD Magazines are specially designed for explosives ordnance disposal (EOD) teams. They are purpose-built in one 7 ft. x 7 ft. x 7 ft. size and are sold as a set of two magazines for storing a full EOD kit or individually for storing less than a full kit.
Each magazine includes special containers for use inside the magazine to prevent sympathetic explosions. As reduced arc magazines, they can be safely located near buildings, roadways and other magazines, providing ready access and reducing transportation time.
An Armag Advanced EOD Magazine is authorized to store 128 lbs. net explosive weight while the maximum credible event is limited to 1.25 lbs. of 1.1 equivalent.
U.S. Military and government agencies can acquire magazines and armories in a fraction of the time and cost by utilizing the Armag Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. Armag Corporation is the only recipient of the single award IDIQ (N0017422D0031) through NSWC IH EOD Technology Center.
Armag was selected by the US Navy to develop a reduced arc magazine, resulting in the first magazine that can be safely stored near buildings, roadways and other magazines. The ability to safely store ammunition and explosives at nearby locations eliminates time consuming travel to and from an ammo supply point (ASP).
As a part of the limited arc design, explosives are stored in specially designed containers in the magazine which prevent sympathetic detonation. This limits the maximum credible event to only one round which the magazine has proven to withstand, thereby reducing the quantity distance arc.
